-------------------------------------- DESIGNER'S CLUB WEB FILES USER'S GUIDE -------------------------------------- All documentation assumes you have a basic understanding of how to use your computer and the programs you have purchased for it, and how to create Web pages. This 1998 Year End issue includes 32 images for each month in GIF format for use on the World Wide Web. For each month there are 6 of these files that are animated GIF images. These images are found in a folder called "Webfiles" in the "Webfiles" folder. The 1998 Year End issue will include a mix of small images, perfect for buttons, and larger images for spot art. Web-safe colors assure clean color on Mac or PC - no dithering, no color shifts. File sizes and palettes are minimized for fast downloading. Each image has up to three versions: one that can be used on any background, one optimized for a white background, and when appropriate for the style of the art, one optimized for a black background. Full transparency means no unsightly background box. NUMBERING SYSTEM ----------------- Each GIF image file will have a number "001" through to "032." This will repeat itself for each monthly issue. "A" following the number means it can be used on any background (for example, 001A9801.GIF). "B" following the number means it can be used on a black background (for example, 001B9801.GIF). "W" following the number means it can be used on a white background (for example, 001W9801.GIF). "A" preceding the number means it is animated. (For example, A01A9801.GIF would be an animated file that could be used on any background; A01B9801.GIF would be an animated file that could be used on a black background.) The "9801" at the end of the file name is the year and month. SEE THE ANIMATED IMAGES IN ACTION --------------------------------- To see how the images have been animated, open the HTML file for that month (for example: DC0198.HTM). This file is located in the \WEBFILES\PAGES directory. In Microsoft Internet Explorer, go to the FILE menu and select OPEN. In Netscape Navigator go to the FILE menu and select OPEN FILE IN BROWSER. If you are using a browser other than Explorer or Navigator, follow your normal procedures for opening HTML documents. You will then be presented with an animated index of all six images.
